We are thrilled to share that Mr. Kevin L. Ramirez-Chavez, a third-year PhD student in the Neuroergonomics & Neuroengineering Lab at Drexel University, received the fNIRS Trainee Award to attend the 2025 fNIRS Summer School held at Washington University in St. Louis on July 14–16, 2025.

Hosted by the Society for fNIRS, this summer school brings together early-career researchers and world experts for an immersive program covering the fundamentals and cutting-edge developments in functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS) and Diffuse Optical Tomography (DOT).

Throughout the program, Kevin engaged in intensive lectures and workshops, from exploring data processing to hands-on sessions with fNIRS hardware, while networking with peers and mentors from across the globe.

A highlight of the event was Kevin’s poster presentation titled “Real-World Multimodal Brain and Body Measures Reveal Biophilic Design’s Impact to Restore Cognition and Emotion.” His innovative work bridges neuroscience and environmental design, investigating how nature-inspired spaces can restore cognitive function. Congratulations, Kevin, on this well-deserved recognition and your inspiring representation of our lab at this event!
