This dataset contains all the raw data of fNIRS, salivary oxytocin levels, behavioral measures and self-reported questionnaire responses collected for the study.

This dataset contains the following files:
1)fNIRS data folder
All raw light intensity data for 24 participants are included in the fNIRS folder with a separate subfolder for each participant.
Each participant folder has four sub-folders for each session for both Spelling Bee and Matching the Pair tasks.
The files are in .mat format which contains the data matrix of rows and columns.
Each row is another sample with the first column showing the relative time in seconds with respect to the recording start time (origin) as listed in the header.
Every three columns after the first column represent the light intensity values for one optode in the order of 730nm light, Ambient light, and 850nm light.
(for Optode 1, it’s columns 2-4, for Optode 2, it’s columns 5-7…).There is also marker matrix which contains timestamps and event IDs.
In the marker matrix, the markers that signify the start and end times of the decision-making blocks are as follows:
12 and 16: start and end (respectively) of Matching Pairs Task (Easy difficulty)
13 and 16: start and end (respectively) of Matching Pairs Task (Hard difficulty)
23 and 31: start and end (respectively) of Spelling Bee Task (Easy difficulty)
24 and 31: start and end (respectively) of Spelling Bee Task (Hard difficulty)
2)ELISASalivaryOxytocin.xlsx
This spreadsheet contains all ELISA test values for salivary oxytocin concentration for all participants.
Task conditions and assigned index values for us in this file are listed below:
Session= The session that sample was taken.
Time: 1:Pre-session, 2:Post-session
Robot Performance: 1= Congruent, 2=Erroneous
Exposure Order: 1= Congruent-First Group, 2= Erroneous-First Group
TestAttempt: Every sample was tested twice.
Concentration(pg/ml): Oxytocin concentration measured in the sample.
Mean_concentration(pg/ml): Average of the 2 test attempts of the same sample.
CV: Coefficient of variation.
3)PCARobotCharacteristics.xlsx
This spreadsheet contains all participants’ perceived robot characteristic scores and PCA scores for Prosocial and Antisocial characteristics.
Task conditions and assigned index values for us in this file are listed below:
Session= The session that sample was taken.
Robot Performance: 1= Congruent, 2=Erroneous
Exposure Order: 1= Congruent-First Group, 2= Erroneous-First Group
Each characteristic measure is on a 0-10 Likert scale.
PCAProsocial: PCA results for the Prosocial characteristics (likability, trustworthiness, humanlikeness, consciousness, lifelikeness, intelligence, friendliness, connection, and caring)
PCAAntisocial: PCA results for the Prosocial characteristics (creepiness, scariness, uncanniness)
4)PerformanceMatchingPairs.xlsx
This spreadsheet contains all participants’ task performance for the Matching Pairs Task. This file includes the number of correct responses, mistakes and the success rates for each trial.
